Serenity's First Voyage

I finally took Little Serenity out for her maiden voyage on Sunday. This was the first time I towed and backed her. I wowed the men at the vintage car rally with my backing skills. Really. I had to back and curve to get into the alcove I was assigned but I did have someone that knew how to give hand signals from the ground to help me not back into any of the vintage cars. There were three vintage 'other' in the car show. A 1973 Dodge Class A and a huge Class A. I don't know what the huge one was or what year. Those people weren't friendly so I didn't take any pictures of them. The people with the Dodge were nice though.
The outside of Serenity isn't Glamped out yet and many people tried to pass her by. When I offered them tours of the inside, they were thoroughly impressed. I was happy to see people look in and smile, then squeeze in and enjoy her interior. These old campers were made back when people were not as ample as some are today.
The wire you see on the kitchen pictures is leading to the solar panel on top of the trailer. I had a fan running and most people were very interested in my little solar set up.
I Glamped the outside with my 5 dollar yard sale camp mat and 10 dollar market umbrella and table. I set my paints and canvas up thinking I would be able to get a little painting done but I was to busy playing hostess. For someone like me who is outgoing and talkative, I had a great time.
I even won a some prizes for being in the show.

Moving on to a moving home and what's holding me from my dreams

Wouldn't you think the older one gets, the simpler life should become? I  just keep collecting people and things in my life that holds me back. At the expense of  releasing  psychobabble on my blog, I will relate some of my ideas of why I have been holding myself back. I have the idea in my head that I need to and can help people. I even took in a woman who had been a heroin addict when she was released from jail. Really nice lady unless she drank alcohol. She did relieve me of some of my things before she was forcibly evicted by my best friend. I have to many things anyway.

Today is already August 29, 2013, I'm 59 years old and I am finally learning to smile stupidly and not honor requests and demands to sort out troubles and I'm finding that I don't any troubles.
This is a little painting I did two weeks ago. "Dream A Little Dream For Me" My goal is to live my own dream and stay away from mean people.

Little Sanitee has proven to be a wonderful art studio.  Still working on Serenity (yes, Firefly) and hope to go to a Vintage car show Sept first with her. I work better under deadlines, sometimes. I am indeed lucky to be able to hide and live in my head here since I'm not on the road yet.  There are places you can't park what looks like junk on your own property. I'm not in one of those places.

Lucky is sitting on the bed in my 1972 Shasta Compact. She wants to go bye bye.  The solar is working well. When I eventually get on the road with "Serenity" I will upgrade. I found out the 60 watt led light bulb is probably to much light for the small light colored space.  The new tires are on her.  I would like to have new vintage look lenses and lights but I will wait. I am chomping at the bit just to take a small trip and I'm so close. This week will be spent getting what needs done for niece Lindsay ready to enter school including vaccinations required for 7th grade.
I also made some curtains for the little kitchen window. Now to find my drill so I can hang the rod.
For those in the know, no this is not correct window for a Shasta. Big Guy and I installed the louvered window to enable more air circulation. I'm happy I did it.  It wasn't hard to do.

I've been using Little Sanitee as an art gallery again. I have next week projected as the time I get the other little trailer, formerly known as Little Sanitee 2, now named Serinity after the Firefly series, ready for her maiden voyage on the road. I think John Bryan State Park in Yellow Springs. I prefer boon docking but there are not a lot of cool boon docking places I have found in Ohio.
Here is the link to my art blog if you care to peek into my life here in the sticks and bricks.

How to fool a camera while pushing 60 years old

I have found the older I get, the more the camera lies on me. Yes, I know, people will say, its a camera, it can't lie, but women know the ugly truth. Cameras lie, not by words of course but by the little images we have so much hope for when we press the  button to take a picture. The camera adds wrinkles, pot bellies and weight. At least 20 pounds is average, usually more. It also lies and makes us APPEAR to be much older.  By having someone takes lots and lots of pictures of you, eventually a few pictures of what you really look like will slip through.
These were taken at Sycamore Park yesterday. Yes, enough shots and the camera can be fooled.

Summer Leaves

Still not on the road, still working on the camper. I have been doing as much art and craft as I can slip in between other necessary things, like mowing the lawn. And controlling weeds. The camper now has a solar panel, just a trickle charger, battery and inverter. It isn't permanently installed yet, still in the testing stage. I will be able to boondock and at least have a little power.

I have doing a bit of art and a bit of crafts. I decided I wanted to learn to make concrete leaves earlier in the summer. Now I can't stop making them and they have been selling fairly well. Farmers markets have been kind to me but I think its time to enter them in some juried events.

A Deer In Hand

My plans for the summer. My daughter Dakota and I own a small piece of property in New Mexico. We call it our little piece of heaven. We haven't seen it for 6 1/2 years. That trip out west with our family of 4 was the last ditch effort to find enough pieces of a rapidly disenigrating marriage. Alas, not enough pieces were to be found in the magical land at Pine Meadow Ranch or any of the other areas we so enjoyed earlier in our lives together. This deer painting is todays daily painting. An artist that has property at PMR took the picture of the deer, I think it's a mule deer. She allowed me to use it to make this one. I decided I wanted to change the landscape to wildflowers and trees. This is Ruths facebook page for her artwork.!/RuthAndrewsVreeland.Artwork?fref=ts
Sorry, I got off track about my plans for summer.I will have Little Sanitee 2 together and will take off after Lindsay is out of school June 6th. I want to spend some time enjoying the place and painting on site.

It is to cold and dreary to work on Little Sanitee 2. I haven't seen the sun for days. Ohio is like that in the winter. Once I though all of my little solar walk lights were bad. When the sun finally came out the lights worked again. I  so look forward to spring and summer. I am not a cold weather person.
This is my art studio set up for my New Years Resolution. After thinking long and hard about what to do as my New Years goal I decided not to loose weight, learn a new language, keep my house neater or any of these unobtainable things. So here is my tiny art studio that I can take where ever I want it and do a painting each and every day, or at least several a week. Why not do what makes me happy?

looks like blogger doesn't want me to put up a picture, will try later.
edit 1: still can't upload but I found another bloggers art, really lovely one of a kind.

New Year, New Beginning, New Life

I have temporarily given up on Little Sanitee. She is not sound enough and will take to much money to make her road worthy.  I picked this little gem up for 600.00. She's a 1972 (the year I graduated from High School) Vintage Shasta with wings. Only 10 foot long by about 6 foot wide. Some work needs done but it shouldn't cost me as much. I no longer have as lofty goals with this trailer.
This home is Little Sanitee 2. Propane tanks need mounted and a new line for the stove. Figure out what to do about the water lines. Kicking around enlarging the closet to make a bathroom with shower. My best bet will be a porta pottie and just enjoy it without a lot of extras. It sure beats tent camping for me.
The picture of the kitchen area is not mine, I apologize to whomever it belongs to as I can not give you credit. This is close to what it looks like though. I'm looking forward to baking in the stove.
