RV Show Weekend

This weekend I attended an RV show.  If you are ever able to attend one it is very enjoyable. The economy being what it is, I felt that a lot of the travel trailer and RVs had good "show prices" on them. I doubt I would ever buy new but it gave me a baseline. For instance, a tt priced at 23,900 was knocked down to the 13 and 14 thousand dollar sales prices, meaning about 10 grand was knocked off 23 thousand.
I will be happy with my 51 year old vintage Shasta trailer for now but, I did see a v-nose design I was interested in. Of the travel trailers it seemed substantially made.  http://www.forestriverinc.com/VCross  The 6502 was the one I liked, priced around 13 grand show price. I will juast have to keep liking it from afar since I owe  my dad for my electricians bill.  Most all seemed like family fun but most were not made for what living in permanately would take. Most all had very nice floor layouts though.
My 2 cents worth, for those like me who want to do this living out of a vehicle or travel trailer but have not yet experienced it. Go cheap until you know what your needs are. You can always sell what you have to upgrade. As with most things with wheels, as soon as it is off the showroom floor, you won't get what its worth in a secondary market.
Oh, the high point of the show was seeing a member of http://www.cheaprvliving.com/   If you are or become a member of a forum, you get to "know" some of the people online. I chanced upon Seraphim, recognized him and called his name, he cautiously turned back and I pointed at myself, "Dragonfly".  We talked at lenght, he was there with his DW, and I with Big Guy. Later my Big Guy said he had thought we had met before. Nope, maybe just a connection meant to happen.

It looks like you had a "learning experience" Although I bet you were tempted to place an order on one them. Im also going what you said, Im going cheap and simple for now so I don't get overboard with expenses.
As for Seraphim he practically wrote word to word you did(about you 2 meeting). Glad you 2 had a good meet.

Our huge RV show is here in Kansas City next weekend and I'm soooo excited! Never in a million years did I think I'd get excited about rv shows, but this is my 3rd year going and even more this year since we're not just window shopping, but actually getting ready to buy!----although we're going used also.

That's so cool! You got to meet Seraphim. I just went to my first RV show last Sunday. RV shows are great sources of inspiration, and oh so fun.

Lots of RV shows this past weekend apparently. Must be the season. As I mentioned on my blog, after looking at an Apache popup, I decided I was going to "go new" and priced a Sportsmen Classic ... 14' no frills (talking no propane, no bathroom) for nearly $8,000. I decided to hold off and I'm glad I did because within a couple days, the little Casita pretty much fell in my lap. :) I might find down the road she's too small for me but at least I didn't pay full retail. I don't think I could live in a 13' but down the road a ways, who knows. :)

Mary, big would be nice but the reality is, if you are the outdoorsman type, you won't be in the trailer like you will a sticks and bricks, depending on where you need to live of course. Get an easy to put up screen room, a must have in my book, flies and bugs find you fast, and you have plenty of room. This venture we are about to have is so exciting to me.

Jackie, I wound up going 2 days. Was too cheap to pay full price so I called one of the RV salesmen and he left my name at the door so I could get in free.
